A very useful vintage trompe l'oeil tin tray which is styled to resemble a Staffordshire blue and white ceramic platter.
The piece is decorated in the distinctive early 19th Century “Nuneham Courtenay” pattern - which was derived from an engraving by W. Cooke after a drawing of the Oxfordshire village of Nuneham Courtenay by S. Owen published in 1811. The central image features Nuneham Park (the seat of Earl Harcourt), a riverside cottage, bridge and two punts on the river in the foreground. Several Staffordshire potteries as well as the Ferrybridge factory in Yorkshire produced this popular transferware design.
Here 'Daher Decorated Ware' have produced a useful tin tray based on an original pottery piece.
