A charming Arts and Crafts picture depicting a mother washing a child's face. She is sitting on an ebonized wood chair with turned back spindles and a rush seat (almost certainly a 'Sussex' side chair, designed by Philip Webb and made by Morris & Co), a similar arts and crafts style table is beside them.
