An increasingly sought after vintage "Boom-Box" or "Ghetto Blaster". This particular model was in production circa 1982-1983 and therefore dates to the early era of 'Old Skool' Hip Hop and Breakdancing - both of which genres benefited from the delevopment of portable sound system technology. Indeed, the boom box has been described as being "instrumental" to the rise of Hip Hop and has become inextricably linked with Hip Hop culture.
Sharp models from this era were known as the "boombox kings", having amplification loud enough to drown out other ghetto blasters when pitted against them in a "music battle".
