A Small Butter or Confiture Dish or Tip-Tray
From the Grande Brasserie Nationale, 33 Rue de la République, Paris
Black printed text on white porcelain
by Pillivuyt, France
An interesting and authentic French tip tray or butter dish from the Grande Brasserie Nationale on 33 Rue de la République, Paris. These are still made today but the Pillivuyt mark on the example here is dated '1942' which indicates that this is probably an authentic example, purloined from the famous cafe after the war. (The Grande Brasserie's distinctive pottery was first supplied to them by Pillivuyt in the 1920's).
