A well presented entomological collection. Moths, beetles and other insects, neatly arranged, pinned for display in their original antique glazed, buckram-wrapped shadow box with suspension wire to rear for wall hanging.
A symmetrical array of insects which has around forty specimens, centred around a large moth with a wingspan of approximately 14cm (appears to be an example of the 'Usta Angulata' ('Angled Emperor')) and a further giant beetle beneath it ('Bull-Headed Dung Beetle'?)
A neat manuscript label to the centre reads "South African Lepidoptera and Coleoptera etc, Pretoria 1914".
How different the world was 110 years ago!
