As two-year-old in 1892, Isinglass was undefeated in three races. At Royal Ascot on 16 June he ran in the five furlong New Stakes (now known as the Norfolk Stakes) winning by two lengths at odds of 100/30.

In his three year old season in 1893, Isinglass became only the 6th winner of the English "Triple Crown" by securing victories in the 2000 Guineas, The Derby & St Leger.

As a five year old in 1895 Isinglass took part in the Ascot Gold Cup during  Royal Ascot on 20 June. He is said to have raced lazily but still went on to with the race by three lengths "at his leisure".

Isinglass set a World Record for earnings and prize money of £58,655 which stood until 1923. The horse's British Record for winnings stood for over half-a-century until finally exceeded in 1952. Isinglass has been described as "one of the greatest race-horses that has trod the English turf".
