A 19th Century 'Bristol Green' Glass Decanter
Hand Wheel-Engraved Fern Decoration

Victorian, English,
Circa 1870

Measures:-
30.6 cm tall x 9.5 cm diameter (approx)

A very attractive 19th Century green glass decanter. Hand Wheel-Engraved decoration of fern leaf fronds. Polished pontil to the base, slight wear to foot.

The pattern is of a known pattern type, originating during the 19th Century Victorian 'Fern Fever' craze (Pteridomania).  Reproducions of this design were made at the end of the 20th Century by the distinguished glass manufacturer William Yeoward but they are marked as such. The decanter here is an unmarked, original 19th Century example.

A beautiful decanter in excellent condition.
