A number of leading artists were invited by Thomas Acland Fennemore, Art Director of E. Brain & Company (Foley China), to contribute designs for the project: these included Vanessa Bell, Duncan Grant, Laura Knight, Graham Sutherland, Paul Nash, Ben Nicholson, Frank Brangwyn and Barbara Hepworth.

Everett's pattern has a suitably martitime theme, befitting an artist who spent time as a merchant seaman.
