A Fossil-Rich Marble Oval Platter
Metamorphosed limestone with fossil inclusions

33 cm (13") long by 23 cm (9.1") wide
A decorative platter fashioned from limestone marble with belemnite fossil inclusions. Although of recent manufacture the stone from which the platter is carved dates to the Carboniferous period, around 325 million years ago. The stone is of a dark grey tone, filled with a myriad of belemnite fossil fragments.
The top is unpolished the bottom highly polished.
