An attractively coloured view of the Strand elevation of Somerset House in London, this is the wing which is now home to the Courtauld Institute of Art. Also included is the Church of St Mary-le-Strand, designed by the architect James Gibbs (1682–1754). The original gouache bodycolour is in a good state, the sky and clouds have been particularly well done, with especially  pretty sun rays silhouetting the tower of St Mary-le-Strand.
