A very attractive image of horses being led out ahead of a hunt in early 19th Century India. The animals in the back ground (an elephant and a pair of camels), underline the exotic nature of the scene. Capt. Thomas George Williamson left England in 1778 to serve with the East India Company and was finally sent home 20 years later having criticised proposals made by Lord Cornwallis for reforming British forces in India. He wrote the text which accompanied the images in "Wild Sports of the East" and provided the source material which was worked up for Samuel Howitt for the engravings.

Expensively framed with triple mount, matched to the tones of the picture.
