Plate 10 from 'The Small Passion'. A crisp Meder a impression after the Latin text edition with good detail and fine margins.
The Small Passion is Albrecht Dürer’s longest and most comprehensive series of woodcuts, consisting of thirty-seven detailed scenes depicting Biblical scenes from the Fall of Man and the expulsion from Eden, the Nativity of Christ, the events of Holy Week, Crucifixion and Ressurection. Created around 1508 to 1511, the series reflects Dürer’s technical brilliance through his mastery of line, composition and storytelling through the medium of woodcut.
On laid. Slight roughness to the edges. Curling to sides where not affixed to cream card. Small pinprick hole towards the right of St Peter's left hand (where it meets his robes). Well presented in an antique black lacquer frame with inner gilt slip.
