A scarce popular print of Attila, winner of the 1842 Derby owned by George Anson (1797–1857). The horse started the Derby as 5/1 second favourite and went on to win by two lengths, giving his jockey John Scott one of his forty classic winners. Colonel Anson is reported to have collected £12,000 in winning bets, in addition to £4,900 in prize money!

Sadly Attila died in 1846 from injuries sustained on board ship in rough seas in the English Channel while returning from France, where he had been taken to cover mares.
