A charming depiction of a provincial shoe-shop and cobbler of the Regency Era. Made as one of the twenty-one illustrations for James Buonarotti Papworth’s “Poetical Sketches of Scarborough”. Rowlandson engraved the humorous plates taken-from on-the-scene drawings made by the portrait painter James Green as a souvenir of a trip to Scarborough in the year 1812.
Framed in a nice antique burr maple frame.
