A delightful and carefully observed image of a Mallard or Wild Duck (anas platyrhynchos) seen in profile, swimming on water with foliage to the left and right.
Presented in a charmingly authentic fashion in its original antique, dulled-gilt frame bearing a partial old label to the backboard for "William Froom, 'Looking Glass Manufacturers, Carvers and Gilders, and Picture Frame Makers', 136 Strand (Near Waterloo Bridge)" - dating the work to around 1830.
An attractively toned antique picture with particular charm and character.
