For his graphic works Nicholson was inspired by the simple woodblock prints in Georgian 'chapbooks' which, though crude, could nevertheless convey complicated images through clever design.

This image of a Beefeater (or Yeoman Warder) at the Tower of London taken from a Popular Edition of Nicholson's "London Types", a series of thirteen plates published by William Heinemann, London, November 1898.

Well presented. Framed and glazed.
