Portrait of Erasmus, half-length turned to right, wearing a fur-trimmed coat and cap lettered beneath "[Holbei]n pinxit", Houst[on] fecit" (obscured by the frame) and with the title "Desiderius Erasmus". This image appeared as to the "Life of Erasmus" (1758) by the clergyman and church historian John Jortin (1698-1770).

A characterful engraving of Erasmus, one of the greatest scholars of the Northern Renaissance, after his famous 1520's portrait by Hans Holbein the Younger.
