Benetfink & Co was an extensive "Manufacturing Ironmongers, Electroplaters & Cutlers" and also a prestigious London home furnishing emporium with numerous departments, supplying high quality household goods. The business was located at 89-90 Cheapside, London. The firm operated from around 1845 and was named after Samuel Alexander Benetfink (d.1869) one of the founders. Benetfink's unusual name derived from the Church of St. Benet Fink, in Threadneedle Street, on the steps of which he had been found as an infant in 1816. He served an apprenticeship in the ironmongery trade and through good fortune and hard work he had saved enough money to enable him to set up in business on his own and, despite his humble beginnings, become a very successful retailer. The business merged with Gamages in 1907.

In good condition for age. Attractive age related wear and a few very minor dents.
