An attractive and interesting pottery oil lamp, reminiscent of the Nishapur style. The top bowl distinctively pinched to hold a wick in the oil over a lower, integrated saucer bowl with a raised rim with Arabesque detaills, from which is raised an integral, banded, looping strap-handle. The whole covered in a rich green glaze with some craquelure.
Similar pieces have been made over a long period of time. This item is dated to the 18th/19th century but could be considerably older.
Condition:
Very good. Some age-related craquelure to glaze.
