A Regency Period Spode 'Stone China' Oriental Pattern Bombé Sauce Tureen
Hand-enamelled in famille rose palette with gilding over a transfer printed outline on stoneware pottery
Red printed mark beneath

Measures:-
12 cm high x 19 cm wide x 10 cm deep 

An early 19th Century Spode tureen in an unidentified pattern (similar to pattern number 2147 known as the 'Willis' pattern). Of bombé form with two handles and a slotted lid. The sides decorated with flowering peonies and prunus blossom, the lid with four floral sprays / garlands around a central cartouche decorated with further blooms and an oriental trellis, the finial handle in the form of a lotus bud. The whole decoration in imitation of Yongzheng period (1723-1735) Chinese porcelain.

The red printed 'SPODE Stone-China' mark used hereon, indicative of a date of manufacture during the Regency / George IV period before 1830.

Condition:-
Perfect. In mint condition, nearly as it was on the day that it was made.
