A very attractive and highly accomplished mid-Victorian hunting print of a good, substantial size. Two huntsmen and five hounds are depicted about to enter and area of woodland. Well presented beneath glass, in an antique Hogarth style frame with an inner and outer gilt border.

George Laporte specialised in depicting horses, especially in hunting and racing scenes. He was one of the founding members of the Royal Society of British Artists. William Turner Davey was a skilled engraver who reproduced work for a number of artists, including Edwin Landseer.

Extremely scarce. Not in BM.
