An Antique Victorian Stoneware Pottery Moulded Jug
Decorated with Fantastical Elephant & Camel Carriages

Unmarked but probably by one of the Yorkshire potteries 
(possibly Leathley Lane Pottery, Hunslet, Leeds)
English, Victorian 
Circa 1850

Measures:-
20 cm high x 14.5 cm diameter

A charming mid-Victorian jug with highly fanciful decoration, in a moulded cream coloured stoneware body (drabware) with orientalist scenes of fantastical carriages to either side, pulled respectively by elephants and camels. The neck with grape and vine decoration the handle with scrolling hop decoration. Two palm trees beneath the spout. The base standing on short scrolling rococo feet.

Good antique condition, general craquelure and some discolouration. Minor fritting and minor chips.
